Privacy

What we collect

• Your account details: your email address, your name, and optionally a username and a short bio. If you sign in with GitHub, the basic profile details it gives us instead - we never ask GitHub for access to your repositories.
• The code you submit, and the results of running it.
• Your activity on the site: what you have solved and when, and the progress, XP and streaks that follow from it.
• Your Ask AI conversations: what you ask the assistant in a challenge workspace, and what it answers.
• Sign-in records, so you can see where your account is signed in and sign those sessions out.
• Basic technical records of requests to the site, including your network address, kept for a short time to keep the service running securely. They are not tied to your profile and are not used to build a picture of you.

Why we collect it

To run the service, and only that: to authenticate you, to compile and test the code you submit, to show you your own history and progress, and to display public solutions. There is no tracking across other sites and no profiling. The site carries advertising - see below - but no advertisement is chosen using anything we know about you, and nothing we hold about you is given to an advertiser.

What is public

When you solve a challenge, your solution can be listed publicly on that challenge's page, alongside your name or username and the date. This is a setting on your account, it applies to your solutions, and you can turn it off at any time - your solutions then disappear from the public lists. Other members can vote a public solution up or down; the score is a bare number and we never show who voted. Your email address is never shown to anyone else.

Cookies

One cookie, holding your session, set when you sign in and cleared when you sign out. The advertising and the analytics described below set none, and nothing here follows you to another site.

Advertising

Some pages may carry a single advertisement, served by Carbon Ads. It is chosen from the page it appears on, not from you: the advertiser is told nothing about your account, your code or your progress, and never learns that you have one. It sets no cookie and does not follow you anywhere else. Blocking it costs you no part of the site.

Analytics

We count visits with Plausible, running on our own server rather than a third party's. It is the only analytics on the site. It records which pages are viewed, the site that sent you, and your broad country, browser, operating system and device type, as totals only. It sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device, collects no personal data, and never links a visit to your account. Your network address is used only to tell visits apart for a day and is not stored. Blocking it costs you no part of the site.

Who else sees it

The service providers it takes to run the site: the provider that hosts it and stores its data, the one that delivers verification and password-reset email, and - only when you use Ask AI - the AI service that answers you. Asking a question sends it what it needs to answer that question about that challenge; nothing else about you goes with it, and it is never called unless you ask it something. They process this data on our behalf. The advertising service described above sees a request for a page, and nothing that identifies your account. The analytics described above runs on our own server, so no one else sees it. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from your profile page. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your account and everything attached to it goes with it - your account details, the code you submitted, anything you published or voted on, your Ask AI conversations, your activity, and your sign-in records. Nothing of yours is kept behind, and nothing can be restored afterwards.

The basic technical records of requests described above are not attached to your account, so deleting it does not remove them. They are short-lived, they name no account, and they age out on their own.

The one thing outside our reach is a question you already asked Ask AI: it was handed to the AI service at the moment you sent it, and deleting your account deletes our copy, not theirs.
